February 2019 Luncheon Meeting Recap

    Over 25 GESHRM members and guests attended the February 19th meeting held at the Holiday Inn, Rocky Mount.  Featured presenter, Ken Gray of Ward and Smith, LLP, spoke to the audience highlighting several employment law current topics and trends.  In concluding his presentation, Ken provided a "Top 9" list of suggestions for employment compliance in 2019.

    9.  Review your substance abuse and drug testing policy - make sure random testing is truly random

    8.  Engage in the ADA interactive process for disability and religious related situations

    7.  Review pay practices and pay equity

    6.  Have a strategy for workplace violence and active shooter situations

    5.  Make sure to comply with immigration laws, audits are up significantly

    4.  Apply all company policies and procedures consistently

    3.  Don't stick your head in the sand (if you hear something, say something)

    2.  Train supervisors and managers

    1.  Document, document, document!  Train supervisors on how to properly document.
